Devi's interest in Eastern philosophy began at
age 14 with her martial arts training. She was fortunate to
find a sensei who had traveled and studied in India and
Japan, returning to share techniques of meditation with his
students. Her teenage years were spent in training that
culminated with her achievement of black belt, the first
awarded to a woman practitioner of Tang Soo Do in
Michigan.
At 21, she was introduced to an Indian tantric master. Their
meeting impelled an intensive training which would last
fifteen years. During this period, Devi awoke before sunrise
to practice Kundalini yoga and meditation for several hours
each day. In her immersion she developed the ability to
harness subtle energy and direct its flow for sexual healing
and spiritual awakening. Her experiences of this internal
alchemy and its profound and positive impact in her life
inspired Devi to share the knowledge of it.
The following ten years saw her involvement as co-founder of
the United Yoga Institute, a large state-accredited school
affiliated with the University of New Mexico which offered
seminars, daily classes, travel retreats and international
teacher training. During this time she continued her studies
in tantra and taoist sexual yoga. Personal visionary
experiences led her to explore the histories and practices
of Goddess cultures, in which she discovered a resonance and
a source of wisdom.
Understanding the necessity of healthy, unblocked emotions
to the practice of tantra, Devi participated in advanced
training for Deep Emotional
Release Bodywork. She underwent the course
designed for practitioners with the system's founder, James
Hyman.
Devi maintains a teaching and healing practice in Boca
Raton, Florida. Her private sessions and intensives are
uniquely designed to awaken divine sexuality, and ignite the
spiritual fire in the flesh.
